A hot day got even hotter for DC Fire and EMS personnel who were called before 8:30 a.m. on Friday, July 28 to the 1800 block of Good Hope Road SE, where a fire was reported.

With temperatures topping 95 degrees firefighters worked with PEPCO to extinguish the fire which was arcing in the walls of the building, but couldn't be contained until the power was secured.

A cooling bus was called in for the displaced residents, and the fire was under control before noon. The American Red Cross was also called in to assist.

No injuries were reported, and officials declared that "firefighters are rehydrated and rehabbed, and ready for the next call."
